I assume the word TNT was looking for was famous, not infamous.....infamous means "being known for something bad". I.E. John Wilkes Booth, for killing Lincoln. But nice hand gooders

Dark Drew may not have realised that TNT, when referring to the 29 hand as being infamous, was using the definition of infamous within the context of having a bad reputation due to it being extremely hard to achieve and a great frustration to Cribbage exponents. As such it was a quite correct usage of the word. WILKIEBOBS

so, are you to say that getting a 28 or 29 hand is something to be famous for or infamous for?

Neither but remember, you can be famous for getting/catching something infamous ie the persons who caught John Wilkes Booth. If you refer to my original posting it was never suggested that a 29 hand was infamous in itself. If you read this again carefully you will see exactly what was meant. It is often a danger always to take a word (infamous)at its true literal meaning, this is a stiffler of literary progress. I wish you luck in your 29 quest just don't do it against me!!!.

Anyone know the odds of 28 and 29 hands? I think 24 is like 1% but my opponents seem to get it more often than that.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
