I will be hosting a best 2 out of 3 Cribbage Tournament on Tuesday August 22 at 7 PM ET.
It has been a long while since there has been a best 2 out of 3 Cribbage Tournament.
If the participation for this event is good and the responses we hear are good, I will regularly hold this format. Please understand that this type tournmanet does take longer than a one-game and out single-elimination tournament.
Just an aside; MAB an I have a little bet on how long this will take!
I hope to see everyone there! The more the merrier!
Good Luck, PV544

Jer & all,
I have not seen that type of oprion here. In the best 2 of 3, you need to win 2 games out of the three. If you win the first two games, then the third game is NOT played.
A 1-point win, a 31-point win (skunk), and heaven forbig a 61-point win (double-skunk) each count the same - 1 win!
A win is a win regardless of the spread points (difference in point location between the winner (121) and the loser.
Feel free to ask any other questions surrounding this format or cribbage in general.
Good Luck PV544

Is this a 'swiss' tourney?
Best 2 out 3 Match is not Swiss

This best 2 out of 3 match will be a standard round-robin/bracketed play. It is NOT in the swiss format.
When I get brave, I will run a swiss toruney.
Good Idea Scrubs!

GameColony has an extremely flexible swiss tourney implementation. In fact, TDs can select swiss tourney format to implement a ... straight round-robin. For the round-robin, the only thing TD will have to do is to correctly select a fixed number of rounds once all the players are in. The results would be in a table.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
