Pairs/Doubles - Easy to Cheat with These Versions

Hi GSE,
I agree with you that 'Pairs' aka 'partners' aka 'doubles' cribbage is fun. It can be a more sociable version that one-on-one.
In over-the-board/face-to-face, I have experienced a lot of 'cheating' with this version. Cheating in this version can be subtle or blatant. The cheating range from the way folks hold their cards in their hands to the inclusion certain words (non-cribbage) into the discussion.
I have no expereince with pairs in internet play, but I can see two clear avenues for cheating. One, the injection of agreed upon 'words/phrases' in the type chat (subtle) to use of an Instant Messenger to discuss the cards that are held (blatant).
Because of what I see as an easy opportunity for cheating, I, personally, will not consider playing pairs online.
This is my personal opinion, your and others most likely will differ.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
