...........to change or try to change things when you are on a bad run? When I play league crib, there are all sorts of superstitions, going to the loo, dropping the cards on the floor, and it is surprising what can sometimes happen. So, when you are sitting in front of your screen and things are going from bad to worse, what tricks do you try to change your "luck".

so far the only thing I know to do is reach in my pocket and get some more money! We all know how it is and anyone that says differently is fibbing. To me cribbage is a microcosm of life... you just have to learn from the mistakes, and sometimes you dont even make mistakes and things just go against you... just keep going.Good luck to you!
oh I forgot,,,having said that

I find that there is a period of 6-10 consectutive days every month where I cannot consistently win at cribbage or any other game here. I just play through it as I know the other 20+ days every month I will do OK.
and then there are cycles

It's like life.....full of peaks and valleys, cycles yet to be experienced, roads yet to be travelled. The key is to take each game and each hand as a learning experience, keeping your eyes wide open and if you continue to believe and to try, the possibilities are endless. Enjoy the ride.
Well, what I do is this ....

I agree with lardy100. I honestly think that over the long run, (100 games? 1,000 games?)we will all get about the same amount of good, bad and average hands. That said, if you observe and practice good tactics and strategy you can win most of the 15% of the boderline games that could go either way. I recently discovered some very good cribbage strategy on a local club's website. They appear to update it often. Check it out - www.albuquerquecribbage.com and click on the strategy page.

Many thanks to Cygfa for the strategy website address. I looked into it and it indeed a good place for cribbage strategy & tactics! I wish I could go and play in that club but unfortunately I live about 900 miles away. Too far to travel each week! lol

Recently I went on an 8 game losing steak and a nine game loser seperated by 2 wins. Side note, that actually knocked me down to 246L and <1400Rating. I went back and hit the books. Even though I have read them before it gave me a two day break, then I just watch how the pointing is going because that is the most control I have in a game.
Final note I back in the top 50.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
