This happened to me last month while i was in the #1 spot. Someone challenged me, but then they refused to play the challenge when they had the chance just because it wasn't the game they like to play. I had set up my usual two point 8 ball match and this person prefers to play 9 ball, so he would not come to play me even after I sent several invites while he was idle and attempted to explain to him that he was required to play whatever game was set up for the challenge. And worse yet, the challenge stayed on the board. What good are rules if they don't have to be followed? I think the challenge should at least be dropped if the person who sent it doesn't play it.

Couple of points on challenges. It is up to the challenged party to select the game type. The challenger cannot refuse game options requested the challengee. Please make sure to report (via Contact Us) problem challenges within 24 hours of expiration. This way GC staff can review them and cancel them if warranted.

I think GC should introduce a new rule to challenges. If a challenger fails to play a game, and GC are forced to remove the challenge from the board, then the challenger should forfeit 2 ladder places. A penalty equal to that given to challenges not played by a challengee.
Opinions please people and GC.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
