just putting my 2 cents worth in,,,i think the two minute waiting rule should be revoked.,,,it just encourages late folks to arrive later.---your opinion???

I used to feel that way too

Paaaaaaaaaa I fought that fight for a loooooooong time, with no results, even before this 2 min rule was established. And I hated that rule when we first started it - seemed like it encouraged tardiness. However, after using this rule for quite a while now I have to say that it was probably the ONLY way to appease those that did show up late and griped because I outed them. Not all TDs were outing players for being late, so players were becoming very confused and frustrated with the inconsistency........even though I didn't like this 2 min wait at first I now believe it was nothing short of sheer genius on the part of the Webmaster.....perhaps some still show up late JUST because of this rule, but on the other side it HAS encouraged TDs to become more consistent in the way we run tourneys, rather than having each TD decide for themselves. I know I was a stickler, outing on the hour if someone didn't show.....then there were some that would wait 5 min or more if deemed necessary. I feel that LESS players have abused the tardiness clause than maybe sometimes it seems. It seems to me it gives just the right balance at instilling "patience" in us TDs and at the same time setting boundaries for those that would have us wait and wait and wait and WAIT and then complain when we didn't
Anyway, I totally know how you feel, Pa, but believe me I would be the FIRST to tell you if I felt this was unfair lol I think this at least puts it in black and white for ALL players and TDs to see and follow accordingly
Hope that helps, hon........I'll see u at tourney time
Love
Maaaaaaaa

Let's just see how micddle of the fence I can be!!

a. I agree with Pa and Ma!! (so far so good!!)

b. However I lean towards starting the tournament on time because I am an Obsessive-Repulsive sort of guy!

c. Nuff said as I feel myself tipping heavily to the side (which I won't name)! ty tyvm for allowing my input!! Lobmente!

lol wish i would have known howw u guys felt when I was waging battle against this myself. Lol!!!! I don't think there's a way to make EVERYONE happy - but I was very happy the TDs all have one uniform rule one way or the other when this one came out hee hee
P.S. To all players - I hope you will TRY to make it in by the hour, not wait longer simply because you have that extra 2 min to show........remember, you are making your friends wait when you do that!
Love u guys!!!!

If I decide to play in a tourney and the clock has passed the hour, I would not even consider entering or trying to enter the tourney. I am late and that it. If I have registered for the tourney and then decide to play a game in the main room and again I arrive late, I personally would not expect to be admitted into the tourney room. Surley, a rule is a rule and if the game starts at the hour, then it starts.

I'll put my soapbox away now

If I'm late, it's SOMETIMES my fault, BUT

There are times when my connection is slow and it takes me longer than expected to get in...even trying 3 -4 min and, in some cases, longer, before start time...SO, if I am more than 2 min late after the hour, I do expect to be outted...AND I have noticed that NOT many players are consistantly late. I do prefer the two minute wait, considering what we had before....

just my 3 cents Gramps and Ma

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
