Hi, Please consider making a programming change. Under cribbage/preferences, please change the default to read "Switch ON Icons" as opposed to the current "Switch Off Icons." Thank you for considering this request.

Switching off player icons in cribbage

The dynamic icons are intended mostly for newcomers (like former MSN Zone players) so that they can adjust to the site and understand what's going on and which table is free to join.
GameColony tried to design the new dynamic icons to be sufficiently eye-catching and yet relatively tiny and unobtrusive so that they occupy the smallest possible portion of the table listings screen without interfering with the overall lobby view and functionality.
Per our records, both new players and most of existing players do not switch icons off.
The textual non-iconic look-and-feel of the lobby is akin to 'Expert mode' and is intended for the experienced players who like to experiment with different game/view options.

I would also like to see the icons default changed to "switch on." Sharon

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
