PLAYING FOR FUN OR PLAYING FOR RATINGS

iS IT JUST ME OR ARE THERE MORE AND "RUDE" PEOPLE AT GAME COLONY? I've been here for a number of years (although not as much these days as I used to...)and I've been noticing more and more people being "snobbish" only playing another person for rating/ranking (I'm guilty of occassionnaly trying to up my rating/ranking too...) But I've yet to BAN a stranger just cause of (temporary?) low ratings...Sadly, I used to find this place a little "friendlier" and people enjoying the game...not just the money/points.... Oh well, at least there are still many wonderful people here...and you know who you are! Still a big fan... Lisa

Lisa you know I've found through years of experience that most people learn by example.
Several sites have closed down over a period of the last year. Some of those players have joined us here. They do not know a thing about us at first so if we show them by setting that example many of them will (and lots have already)become one of us. I know it is sometimes hard to do when we feel we've been treated badly but it does work. Either they fall right into our acceptable behavior or they wander off to another place where they find others just like them.
I hope you will always continue to be a fine rep. of our custom - friendly, honorable, decent and respectful. The number of players in the Cribbage room and tournaments who do subscribe to our standards will soon over-power those who don't.
Thank you very much

Thank you for listening.... I will just continue to say thank you (and please and all the other nice things...) and eventually they'll figure out who we are... Thanks for being one of the "good 'ol ones"! Sadly the bad apples spoil the barrel....and they don't read the forums either! Oh well...the nice do (sometimes) finish last and our proud of it! L

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
