Sureley when playing a card game, that is all part of the banter. Certainly when I play with real cards in the league on the UK, that sort of thing goes on all the time, and occasionally with a few expletives, but I am sure it is all in good fun. I have not seen any physical violence a crib matches yet

I agree people should not play for tix if they can't afford to lose them. Scared money=dead money I'm sure everyone knows that and red's situation is just a scared person taking out their frustration.
I agree

I find it funny and annoying the way people can go from being quite pleasant to quickly leaving the table having lost. I have utmost respect for those who can still muster a 'gg' even after the opponent has come from 30 behind to win by a peg - although gramp won a lot of games, those he lost he was ALWAYS gracious about. This is the spirit of the game. Those who cannot play with this spirit shouldnt bother to play.
Sometimes it IS luck - so what?

I realize there is skill involved in cribbage, and I have been playing for a few years now......but you know with cards sometimes you just have an OFF game (or off week or off month in my case lol). And nothing you do can save you - if you win by luck GREAT! If you lose to luck, oh well.........I'm sure the shoe has been on the other foot before and you know how exciting it is to be ON that lucky streak! Please be kind and let the winner ENJOY their victory!!!!!! C u at tourney time! Love, Ma!

I have decided to limit my play to tournaments. I am sick & tired of people winning the first game & if it is your crib, they leave. Hit & run. Everyone wants to win, but I almost never forget to say to the opposing player, gg & gl. If I have ever forgot to say that to someone, I apologize right now. Happy pegging to all.

I agree with Cribking and Jonwill. C K says if you can't lose gracefully don't play. He is so right, nobody wants to be bad mouthed for winning, if you can't lose(without bad mouthing your opp) dont play. Jon, says he dislikes the hit and run artist. I'm with Jon 100% nothing irks me more than for a person to win 2,3,5,10 or more tks, then split. Many times i've been tired, wanting to quit but felt guilty having won two or more. When this happens I always say going into the next game "Let's make this one the last one, i'm getting tired". Every time I do that the opp. will say OK or allright. There are many , many good and courtious players here, two of them I mentioned here.

Just because some one leaves the table without saying anything does not mean they are bad losers. We all want to win, and sometimes when our luck is down we just forget and leave the table. I never take it personally
not necessarily bad loser......

I do agree that commenting on luck COULD be misconstrued as being a "bad loser" in some eyes. That being said, however, I will sound like a broken record here when I insist that "hit and quit" doesn't exist here. Playing one game and leaving is something my hubby and I BOTH do - I don't like being stuck at one table all night. Usually win OR lose I leave after one game - there is no law or rule saying that I am commited to playing multiple games. And like I've said before - I never get any complaints when I play one game and LOSE - only the ones who lose their money to ME and don't get the chance to win em back. No offense to anyone, but to me THAT is a bad loser. I play for fun, and like I said winning/losing doesn't decide whether I play a second match. I hope NOBODY here at Game Colony falls victim to this horrible peer pressure to play more than one game if your opponent loses. Like I mentioned, this is NEVER an issue when I am the one losing money - that is poor sportsmanship right there, not the one who plays one game and leaves. Love, Ma
one more thought....

I saw mention of one of my pet peeves, and I know it bothers most of you as well. I am a player who ALWAYS says "hi gl" and "ty gg"......whether I win OR lose. I think that good sportsmanship includes a simple thank you for the game, win or lose, so I agree that it is a bit rude for those that just leave without a word. I know that we are playing cards, not having social hour; however as a courtesy and polite gesture, let's try to remember our manners Thanks, Ma
It is general banter surely

It is general banter surely, when I play in the league, I am often refered to as a lucky so and so and I sometimes refere to my oponent in the same way. My hate peev is when your oponent does not acknowledge you. I always start off with a GL or GL2U and sometimes no reply and I think what sort of game am I going to have now.

Hi Spicy chick i say your comment and just wanted to reply.
I like to play 2\3 for that reason if you lose the 1st game it gives you a chance to win the next 1 or even the next 2 depending on your skill level of how you play your cards to outpeg your opponent badly!!
Anyone interested in playing in the acc grassroots club 71 in grandville, 28th and byron center ave, American Leigon tuesdays at 7pm arrive at 6.45pm, Always Looking for new people.
Good Luck To All & Happy Pegging!!!!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
