Suggestion for NEW game OPTION Posted by MADoolin (VIP) 18 Apr 2005 3:51am
Dear WEBMASTER:
Several Players have chatted with me and others about an Idea for an Additional Game Option, that would be for the 'Create a Table Menu.'
This Proposed or Suggested Game Option would accommodate both 8 Ball AND 9 Ball, games.
Proposed/Suggested Option Idea, should be named: 'Call Shot' or 'Call Pocket',
Essentially, each player shall call or announce his next shot.
Example: Player 'X' Calls '2 ball, top side Pocket.' In order for him to continue his turn after this he must Pocket the Two Ball in the Top side pocket. If 'X' Fails, then 'X' loses his turn and his opponent, 'Y' would play as the Table stands, (No BALL IN HAND), (unless 'X' Scratches on the 2 Ball Attempt).
Player 'Y' then must call his shot, with positive results, he must then call his nest shot.
Currently, Our 8-Ball Game has a Mandatory 'Call Pocket' on the final 8 Ball shot, this is for a player to win the table. Choosing the Pocket by Clicking on it, which moves a 'Pointing Hand.'
Ideas to set up controls: I) The 'Pointing Hand' shall always be visible. A Player must move the 'Pointing Hand') (just as in the Final 8 Ball Shot that we currently have).
II) The Ball he suggests to pocket, Should be selected by:
(a) Clicking on a ball from an Icon that would be separate from the Table, (such a Rack of All 15 Balls that would be pictured under the 'Close Table' Button). (b) Double Right Click on the Ball he/she attempts to Pocket.
Call Shot Rules according to: BILLIARD CONGRESS OF AMERICA
RULE # 3.4 CALLING SHOTS For games of call-shot a player may shoot any ball he chooses, but before he shoots, must designate the called ball and called pocket. He need not indicate any detail such as kisses, caroms, combinations, or cushions (all of which are legal). “Any additionally pocketed ball(s) on a legal stroke is counted in the shooters favor.”
RULE # 3.5 FAILURE TO POCKET A BALL If a player fails to pocket his/her called ball into the called pocket, on a legal shot, then the players turn is over, and it is the opponents turn at the table.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
