I understand there are complications but what about a tournament like a world championship once a year (FREE FOR ALL POOL PLAYERS. Games dont have to be within 1 day they can be spread out over a window period for each game. It will bring back players of previous years if so be it for one tourney but still the old and new players may be into gettting into tix$ tournies. Can you imagine the build up of people practising and getting ready to play a huge tournament, something i myself would even dedicate my spare time contributing to. The thought of having the 8 best players in the whole game competing in the quarter finals would be mouth watering.

How do suppose:
1. It will hosted?
2. We advertise this?
3. Why do you think it will work, I cannot get players to play in tournaments now, I even offer to sponsor players by giving them free tickets?
When we have great answers to these questions and the answers actually work then I would take your idea/suggestion straight to the Admins and Webmaster for planning and/or approval.
Don't take this the wrong way....It is a great idea!

i think its a good idea i would even help some how,but i agree with madoolin its hard to get tourny players to play,good post twisttwist

hey MADoolin im back so start making soem more Pool tournies!!! and if you can do it at like 3pm EST as most pool players are from england and cant stay on until like 12 at night.

Madoolin hi  i will try to explain as good as i can.
This World Championship Pool Competition would be run once a year and would be FREE. There would be a little advertising feature as there already is pop up in the chat section of people screens every hour a month before the tournament begins. Registration would be adding your name to the list. People wo run the tournament would be people like yourselves obviously along with as many volunteers as you think you need, already you have 2 and im sure many more would offer. There wouldnt have to be a seperate tourny room, matchs culd be played in the main room with each match having to be played within 3 days with both players liasing between themselves for a time and date. If a player has not been on line the othe rplayer gets a bye. I predict over 300 players would join this tournament so it will obviously take a few weeks to get through it but still it gives people a chance to be apart of a tourney and urge them to get involved in the smaller ones. This tournament would be open to every pool player for free and although it sounds like hard work im sure it can be done. You can expand on my ideas maybe even do play games in the tourny room to give it an added special feel. A huge draw would be made and by the end we will have an annual World Champion.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
