To All Players

I want to take this opportunity to explain my post about the rules change.

I want to first say that I was one of the players that didn't play to the spirit of the game. I didn't show the integrity that I spoke of.....but when I realized my actions, I felt I should be doing the right thing and playing fairly and honestly.

I know I look like a hypocrite, and I deserve to take all criticism that comes my way, but there are some who have acted in the same way....You all know who you are.

We all should play with integrity so rules changes would not have to take place. Those changes needed to be made. I agree that there should be 3 days between challenges.

For those who are online at the same time and in the Top 20 Ladder, those games should take priority(with higher rated players first to play). If you don't want to play people on the Ladder, don't participate in Ladder.

Again, my apologies to all who were affected by my play and I hope we can all look at ourselves and play with good intentions. I hope we can all get by this and play some great competitive games in the future.

Good Luck to everyone.

It's good to see someone being honest about all this - I had no idea just how widespread it all was. I even had a player I held with respect tell me that everyone did it (traded wins).
Well actually we don't, and this is the main reason that I don't participate much in canasta any more.
Perhaps this WILL go some way towards improving the spirit in which the game is played.
Here's hoping.

On the positive Note!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice if we used this forum for positive notes? Announcement of birthdays, special days and special intentions. Our lives are filled with enough stress, and our world with negativity and we certainly don't need any more. Lets all just have fun and enjoy the game.
Thank You
Linda

I agree, Linda. This is starting to get a little ridiculous. Who cares if people on here like you or don't like you? Who cares if they talk about you? Who cares what they think of you? We are all acting like a bunch of middle school girls!! Most of the people on here are old enough to be my parents, but they act like 10 year olds. It would be nice if the forum could be where we go to look at positive comments! I deal with enough stress in "real" life. I come to this site to enjoy it and have fun. LETS ALL HAVE FUN AGAIN!!!

Dana

Well I don't play canasta much anymore and didn't know this was going on but have a fun suggestion. This is a completely relaxing and fun game in here that needs players and that is rps(rock-paper-scissors). IT is hilarious and it is about fooling your opponent to win and only a few play now and ladder barely moves. Some canasta players play so might suggest playing a round robin with a canasta player playing one of each and having some light-hearted fun. Most players play for free and u can still win ladder tix. It would be great to check in and play rps sometime.

Presently there is only one 2 tix tournament per week so join in and have a few games and add more to your day. Check out the rps forum to see when some players check in. Look forward to a game with some of you. It is for fun. TY

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
