Why do some players prefer 61 pts? Short of time or what? Thanks

Personally, I prefer 61pt 5 card cribbage, I also like the faster 61 pt 6 card as played often on here. Horses for courses I guess, a sprint or a middle distance race

I get very annoyed, as I am sure others do, when you enter a game for tickets (concentrating on the right hand side for ticket info), only to find you are not playing 121 but 61 pt cribbage, usually dont realise until end of game either. For me, 61pt should be banned. Very poor derivative of the REAL game of 121pt cribbage. I guess its for those that rely more on luck or have poor pegging skills!!??! King_Farouk

i agree 61 point games 6 card require less skill but 5 card 61 point games will require a lot more skill. your box is the most inportant so you have to be very careful what you put in. pegging becomes an inportant part of the game as well. there could be too many big hands in 6 card and to many 5's appearing. i would welcome and any one to the best of seven 5 card and would fancy my chances every time. there are some excellent players out there

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
