Hi, first of all let me introduce myself I go by the screen name Samson and im one of the newer tds to this site. I am trying to get Backgammon tournies going regular again and would like some feedback from the players. I have noticed that there seems to be a bit of a lack of interest in backgammon tournies and I guess what im looking for is some feedback on why? because theese tourneys are for your enjoyment and i would be willing to structure them any way that is possible for your enjoyment. So if u have a moment please take the time to reply to this thread any feedback you have will be taken into consideration and greatly appreciated see ya on the tables !

I think the main thing which would help with tourneys in any of the small rooms is to offer a regular time slot, so that players come to expect one at say 8pm on a Tuesday (or every night) just as an example of course.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
