oops, hadn't finished...........

3 attempts to get in the room, to find you're just too late. I HAVE been getting there more quickly however, but am glad to have that 2 minutes, especially in cases like the 7am this morning which would have been a no go on the dot of the hour.

Two minutes....

I think it is NOT unreasonable to wait two minutes for players signed up or to give other players a chance to join. After that though, it is NOT unreasonable to go ahead and start the tourney. If players in the room fine, if not then the player should be outed instead of making all of the on time players wait....and wait....and wait....for the late player to finally show up. It seems same players doing that all of the time anyway so puts the late players on notice. That's my two cents worth on the two minutes--no show, no play. Seems fair to me. )) BlueSun

tighten up

Whatever them two said that's my 2 cents so there u have 6 cents worth, and it did seem the same players were always late, so guess they need to tighten up or don't play.

This works well

So happy to see these posts. 2 min. wait for those signed up but not in the room seems ok with most. Some of our players have older computers, slower connections or handicaps of one kind or another. Some of us are older folks and we move a little slower too. We even have some issues with the clocks from time to time. With everyone having a different connection speed, live in different zones and different cyber space, it would be impossible for the clocks to be on exactly the same second on everyones screen. (hope that makes sense)

The optimal procedure is to "disallow further sign ups on the dot".. then if all are present, start the tourney. If all are not present then to wait up to 2 min. for the late ones. If they still are not present, out them and start.

The best thing for the player is to sign up 5 min. prior to advertised start time and go directly to the tournament room. This gives a few minutes to chat or hear announcements by the TD.

Thanks to everyone for your continued loyalty to GC and to the great game of Canasta. Thank you too for your cooperation in helping to make our tournaments fun, fair and competitive. And for your sensitivity to other players and to our TDS my most sincere thanks. You guys are terrific.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
