What constitutes a runner? To me, it's a player who wins the 1st game & then leaves. I'd be interested if other players think a runner is also something else.

There is no rule that states anyone has to play more than one game in a row, unless it is agreed upon by both players at the beginning of the game(s). Therefore, no one should be calling anyone a 'runner'. Whether you win or lose, it's all in the fun of the game. One could set an example, that, when you join the table to play, state that you can only play one game or two games, etc. Some players chose not to play another game, whether they win or lose. So pointing the finger at a 'runner' is inappropriate.

Game Colony has added some things over the years, how about a setting just for more than one game? At least you know that whoever turns up at the table will play more than one and dispense with "the runner" name callings we see so often.

Good suggestion bluetulip! Perhaps Game Colony would consider setting up a 2/3 option? I think many players would like to see this.

I thought runners were something on the bottom of a bobsled Seriously, I am amazed people who have played hundreds of games get upset when someone leaves after one game. It is only a game. I agree though that a 2/3 or 3/5 option would be great, especially for the money players.

To me a runner is someone who plays, wins than leaves to try and to the same to someone else who is only after having a few minutes of online enjoyment. All too often you'll see the runner back looking for someone with more points them them. If lucky they be invited to play and if they win, run again to look for someone else. The option button of two out of 3 is a good idea, as long as the players are locked into it, If someone leaves before that, they loose. Simple I think it whould be a good idea to post a list of runners. Sure sometime someone might just be mad and post a name because they lost, but Gamecolony could edit it. Anyone with a lot of posting against them would serve as a warning to others.

To me a runner is someone who is losing a game and deliberately uses tactics to get you to close table. Thus winning the table

Everyone seems to be in agreement that this would be a great option. Please help GC, it's what your customers want.

Thanks to all of you for you input. Web will consider adding 2/3 option. This will not be done immediately, as web's job jar is full, but be assured the option has been added to the To-Do list.

2/3 will be just one of many table options...And NOT a default option. Tables with this option will be marked as "2/3" in the lobby. Nobody will be forced to play 2/3 if they don't like it or don't have time for it. But we hope that some players will set their table this way. Players will always be able to negotiate before starting to play. Opinions?

I find that most players leave after the first game because it will be your crib. Of couse they win lots of games and tickets doing this. some even bail if they don't get the first crib! Some even go out and come back in to change the first crib. I agree that there are some flaws with the site in this regard and players should not be able to take advantage of this.

First of all gooders2 you don't know me...so to say get a life is really rude!! I have been playing on this site a long time and I stand by manners. I do not always have time to play more than one game as stated on my previous post and I try to let my pone know this. If they choose to play me that is their choice. If a 2/3 option works for other players and it is optional I am OK with GC adding this as an option. However I am sad that a lot of the people who play for money think they are the BEST and that is not always the case. I think most of us are here for the love of cribbage and speaking for me only if I only play one game and leave I don't consider me a runner or trying to get an advantage over the other player its just I don't always have the time to play more. Happy New Year to all, especially to Gooders2....!!

first of all let me appologize to kymb i also have been playing here for a long time , but as i said there are a few who do not say time for one but just run , and yes i am a money player and i like to play for tickets sometimes, and maybe a few tourneys, and yes there are some who think they are good , i dont think i am good i know i am good lol so please accept my appologies , but do you accept there are some in the 2200s who will only play one game and run,and some on the way up also, and only played a few games, a lot less than my 19000 odd .

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
