Time Limit in Tournament Games
Posted by Saiko7 (VIP) 19 Mar 2012 8:30am

I think a time limit should be imposed on a tournament game as to not hold up the progress of the event. GC imposes time limits for those who loses connection, why not to those who plays slowly? My tournament game took 23 minutes to play. Semi final and final round players were still awaiting their game. I think its a curtesy to other's not to hold them up..just saying

HI Vegemite,
I undertsand the frustration when games are slower, but some ppl have a bad connection, weather plays a part in connection and maybe some need to clean pc history. If these games were timed, when would it start? How would slow play be determined? We love having all our players, I hope patience will play a part and always have fun. tyvm, Spicii

their is a rule for this

hello there vegemite.
as to the rules at the start of ever tourney there is rules posted. if u feel that u are in a game that is slow u have the right to call td we can check net time and watch game if need we call the staff on duty and make a call. i have all tourneys of mine set at one 1min table but dont take 30 sec to play a card. pl inform td and also u have the right to write gc with a contact us all tourneys can be look at by gc . the rule posted for u to read tyvm hope to sever u soon in the best tourneys on net
(. Un-necessary delay of a game may result in dq" It will be left up to the TD and the Admin to determine if this is the case in a particular game. Abuse of td or players is not acceptable and will result in dq.)

I appreciate your responses Spicii & Sam. I have been against someone in tourney and he would be verbally pushing me to move after 5 seconds has passed. But I honestly believe that there's no need to use the entire minute for a move or even 30 secs for that matter. On that note some people use the delay as a tactic to frustrate an opponent in the main hall into leaving a table. Shame on those who do that. Its petty the silly little games people play and all for the sake of ratings. Good gaming everyone

But they can be timed out if they 'disappear' for a cumulative 5 minutes. I have seen this happen in Canasta.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
