REALLY FOLKS?

When I first came to this room to learn this game over a year ago, everyone was nice and welcoming. Tourneys were regularly on the schedule. There were always several 5 ticket tables open at any given time. I could tell you the names of those confident players who set them, but you all know who you are. Now when I set a 5 ticket table all I see are comments like "too much" or "how about 1 tix" etc. When did we lose that competitive mindset?
I guess I will begin setting matches that are longer and more complex since fast and concise seems to put off some. If that doesn't help, then I am left to succumb to playing only for rating. Oh well, at least I tried.

Hey Lady!
Just saw your message.
I always enjoyed playing with you. No matter who wins, those games are always very special!
I like long and complex games, but play every set. Just choose and invite! I'll be there!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
