--HOW TO JOIN A TOURNAMENT--

Procedure For Entering a GC Tournament:
1.Each game (Gin, Backgammon, Cribbage, Dominoes, Chess) has its own main page.
2.Toward the center of that main page you will see a listing of tournaments (Pending and/or Recently Finished).
3.Click on the (Pending) tournament if you like to enter it.
4.A window (tournament page) will pop-up and you will see all the necessary information that is required to enter that tournament.
5.On that tournament page there will be a Sign Up! Button (located top right).
6. Click that to sign up for that tournament.
7. After you sign up, you must be in the tournament room at least 5 minutes before tournament is too start.
8. To enter the Tournament Room, click on “enter room” (located next to check-in). That will take you right into the Tournament Room!!!
9. Once you are in the Tournament Room, the host of the tournament will give out the rules of that tournament.
10. Once the tournament has started, the host will give out the pairings (who you will play) in the lobby (chat area). The first name posted will set the table for the game according to the rules of that particular tourney. The opponent will join the set table.
11.When you are finished with your match, please state in lobby “whom D who” (D means defeated).
12. Once that is done, the host will state “wtg (way to go) to winner and tyfp (thank you for playing) to loser, which at that time loser may leave the tournament room.
If you have any questions before, during or after the tournament you should feel free to ask the tournament director. The TD is there to 'host' your tournament and they are happy to answer your questions.  )
Note: You can keep two windows open (one is the Tournament Room/Lobby and the other is the Tournament Page (which is located behind the Tournament Room) where you may see the pairings for that tournament (good to have both windows side by side overlapping slightly on the other).
Also: Should you decide to withdraw from the tournament (prior to start), there is a withdrawal button that you can click on (but keep in mind if you withdraw less than five minutes before tournament is to begin, you will only receive half your entry fee back). If you have to withdraw from the tournament (less than five minutes prior to start), you should tell the “Host” to withdraw you (if the Host withdraws you from the tournament you will receive your full entry fee back).
I hope this will help those who are a bit uncertain about how the tournaments are run. If you still have reservation and/or questions I hope you will use the 'Contact Us' button on the left to state those concerns or questions. The GC staff is eagar to assist in anyway possible.

According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
