hi, am new to this site. Game play is great, but I'm a bit annoyed with people who invite you to play then leave without an explanation.
Also I'm not really into chat, but surely a gl at the start and Bye at the end isn't too much to ask for?
Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

I don't mind no gl and bye, but just played someone who disconnected when 1 move away from losing, and didn't bother to come back. Means you have to wait 5 minutes to take the win.
I think that is particularly bad etiquette.
inviting and then leaving

Some people get upset because they aren't told gg or howdy or some other greeting. Believe it or not some people find constant chattering annoying. If someone wants to say good luck or something that's fine but don't judge everyone by your standards of etiquette. If you don't wish to play someone who doesn't respond then make a list of people you no longer want to play with and get on with your life.
Another annoying thing is someone coming to your table that is rated 400 points below you and have a record of 10 and 53 or something. It's obvious they are still learning how to play and shouldn't expect someone rated much higher than them not to hit the ban button.
Has the idea of different classes been discussed so the beginners play among their peers same as middle level and expert level players etc.? I know we have a ladder system but it shouldn't substitute for having rooms for different classes.

i assume that when you were learning to play you were able to play against players with more experience than you. Did you expect to be 'banned' in that situation by people with the same attitude that you evinced in your post?

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
