I never see any chess tournies,I also noticed that its hard to find certain top ranked players all the time. We as a chess community should organize a rank advancement tourney and try to recruit as many ppl as possible to play. I am too tired to type any more, you guys get the idea behind this.
I think the 7 day challenge wait is too long

I don't think players should be allowed to duck a challenge for 7 days. I think 3 days being allowed to fufill a challenge is long enough. As I've said before, if you have the time to get to top ten, you have time to play 5-10 games a day so you certainly have time to fufill a challenge within 3 days. Orfeo NEVER plays. I was in the room when he came online and he played ONE game, then sat in the lounge for over a hour. Then he left without playing another game.

A TD that's interested in chess. I go to backgammon, gin rummy, etc and I see dozens of tournaments being played. I've heard (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken) that in order to be a TD, you have to play more than one game, not just chess. I don't think that's a good requirement. Anybody who plays alot of chess should be allowed to be a TD for chess.

Hi Zero,
More specific questions can be directed to and for a more accurate answer via Contact Us link but for general information... The requirements for tournament director have nothing to do with what game you play or how many you play.
I agree with you 100% about Chess tourneys. We have tried at different times to offer them and are willing to do so at anytime when there is enough interest by the players.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
