Where have they all gone?

Hi folks,
After not playing for a few weeks (holiday), I noticed that the number of players in the Main Hall has now dropped to about 60 from 165 average only a month or so ago. Does anybody know why? The Social Hall doesn't work for me because of firewall problems (it's too slow).
Thanks!
Seems to go in cycles

Whenever they do maintenance on the main hall they shut it down for a few hours and everyone goes to the other hall, then the other gains a sort of momentum because of the amount of people in it and people prefer to play in the hall with more people. It usually changes back after a month or so, but I'm not sure if it does so of its own accord or because gamecolony then does maintenance on the other hall. -Peter
Thanks

I have not been here because i got a high 5.50 dollar an hour job at 7-11. I am making big big money and I don't have as much time for chess. In 10 years I will be a register ringer and make 7.00 an hour!!!!!!! Sorry, but big big money comes first!

RRD, do you live in a third world country or something where 5.50 a hour is alot of money?

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
