Is this a reference to the salmon-centred haruspicy practised by certain North American tribes???????????

I have NO idea what the answer is but Kaupanger's guess made me get out the dictionary. It didn't say anthing about salmon and North American tribes tho...just soothsayers in ancient Rome examining the entrails of sacrificial animal to tell the future.

LOL waiting for the answer to this riddle!!

Oh Peg!

Would'st thou doubt me? Well, if you ever suspected my memory, you'd be spot on. I couldn't remember the word I was looking for, so used the nearest 'alternative'. What I was searching for was ichthyomancy, divination using the heads and entrails of fish. Certain North American tribes practised (practise?) this, but it is a fairly widespread tradition. Not surprisingly, the salmon was/is a very special fish in this connection. I used to know lots of this stuff. Nowadays, any trip to a supermarket without a list clutched firmly in hand is a disaster.

About the telephone - doesn't yours call you and a recorded voice ask: 'Where will you go on the holiday you have just won with...?'

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The telephone is only a vessel for those irritating calls. It doesn't ask questions...just sits there waiting to serve

Come on Rocky...what's the answer??

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
