Can anyone help me out ?

Used to use play chess quite a bit on here, and trying to start up again. I cannot seem to get the screens loaded no matter how many times I refresh the screen. From the main chess piece screen it loads saying 'done, but errors on page' - when I selectthe chess piece to go to chess the page just says 'done' and an empty screen. Somehow eventually I got this far but now when I go to a hall the tables try to load, and sometimes it almost gets there but then the screen clears again and 'done', this also happens on some other websites. Now I know its not a chess problem but I'm sure theres some clever 'teccies out there who may have experienced and cleared this problem before. I'd appreciate help - I'm tearing my hair out and dying to get my pawns moving again !

Hi threeputt,

This is a toughie as there are very, very many possible explanations. Do you have a firewall? (Some firewalls have settings that will block certain things.) Do you have a pop-up blocker? (This may also prevent certain things working.) Have you got the right Java loaded? Etc. I think the usual advice in these cases is to contact Game Colony direct via 'Contact us' (navigation bar on left). Good luck!

Thanks for all the help - consider thread closed, caused by Spyware problems, all seems ok now - does that mean I can call myself a geek ?

I used to think that people who made such programs like spyware or adware should be SHOT!! But now I have changed my thinking. There is a FAR more fitting punishment... They should be FORCED to work on their computer whilst their own spyware/adware is infecting it! Let them see how it is!!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
