In case one player loses connection, GameColony provides this player with the capability to reconnect without penalty to the same game. Reconnection without penalty has its limits -- the opponent will only have to wait a limited amount of time.
To reconnect, a disconnected player has to re-establish the Internet connection (may have to close/re-open the browser, re-dial ISP, etc.).
The number of allowed reconnections per game, the waiting time per single reconnection and the waiting time for all reconnections are limited.
what about this

see also the forum subject: PLAYERS DISCONNECTING
in my opinion GameColony isn't going to do anything about this annoying problem. I still wonder why, it should only be fair to be able to claim a win when players disconnect when losing. See you around greenlab

I would have to disagree with you greenlab. The reason why GameColony is not getting rid of the reconnection option is because it is taking into mind the majority of the users on its site.
If you get rid of the ability to reconnect to the game, there would be more people complaining of losing because of disconnection even though they were winning. It is just a small discomfort for you to sit through an extra 5 minutes; so suck it up and take it like a champ . I say this because you will find poor sports everywhere. All you can do with these people is to remember who they are and do not play them again.

I have found the long waiting period annoying as well. Especially in the short (1-2 min) games it is ridiculous. Suddenly 2 minutes become seven minutes. Could it be shortened according to the lenght of the game?

There is no logic in your statement. It does not matter how long the games are. Whenever I get disconnected I have to reboot. This takes time and adjusting the length of the reconnection period will make it unfair for players who get disconnected. I too am a blitz player and feel that if I had only 3 minutes to reconnect to the game, I would lose everytime I get disconnected. Your train of thought shows how little of an attention span you have and how impatient you are. After all, most people do not disconnect on purpose. So give them proper time to reconnect to the game.
In response to a statement that I'm sure someone will say: 'but there is an option to wait again.' Most people are not willing to wait that extra few minutes, even though they know that their oponent did not disconnect on purpose. The integrity of this game is lost when people take cheap wins just to boost their rating, which by the way means nothing.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
