it varies upon the setting of the table but the person WILL BE timed out if they take longer to play giving you the option to take the win or abort or wait again.

How long does it take for someone to time out in a 30 second-limit game? I've noticed that it is considerably longer than 30 seconds.

Time-per-move expiration

There are 2 issues here:
(1) The times that you see displayed are your local time-related - this is for your reference only. The real time spent is determined by the server.
At times when connection from your location to GameColony servers is slow, there is a visible difference in local time spent & server time spent.

(2) For the first 3 times after time-per-move expires, the player who let his/her time-per-move expire keeps receiving warnings. During these 3 times this player, however, gets some additional time. After the 3rd time-per-move expiration, no additional time is given. Occasionally, however, it may take up to additional 15 seconds on the part of the server to act regarding time-per-move expiration.

Thanks...

To play at GameColony, you must have Java working on your computer. To check your Java and install it if needed go HERE
To start a game, you must first log in and select and enter the playing room. In the playing room, you may want to create your own table. Use 'Create table' button and choose from the various table options available.
When you create a table, you will be in control of the table -- you can select all table options, choose time control options, etc. After the table has been created, you will have either to wait for somebody to join your table or you might want to invite others to join your table.

Also, instead of creating your own table, you might want to join an existing table with a player who is waiting.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
