Does anyone have an answer/response/clue as to why canasta players do not come to the tourneys?
I am looking for suggestions and replies. lets put our heads together and come up with some solutions. Tournaments are a lot of fun, especially when we have a lot of players. So please help me discover some possible answers. I became a TD mostly, so we could get some canasta tourneys going. so please, I need your thoughts and possible resolutions. 1okaylady(TD)

It seems to me that in the newer games such as canasta and pool the players need small tix tourneys set at regular times that they can get used to being there. Check out the Main room at regular hours and see when the most Blues are playing and try to set regular tourneys at those times...maybe 2 tix to start with. When they are ready for the bigger tix they will probably let somebody know. It would help if they would use this forum to air their views. Just my 2 cents worth.

GETTING TOURNAMENT PLAYERS

Have you ever considered having a tournament just for players with a lower rating? It's kinda intimidating to consider playing against players with ratings of 1700+ or even 1600 when you're way down there! Just a thought.....

LOWER RATED PLAYER TOURNEYS

THANKS CANASTAFORFUN, FOR YOUR SUGGESTION, AND THAT WAS MY FIRST THOUGHT TOO. GREAT MINDS DO THINK ALIKE. IT WOULD BE A GOOD THING IF WE CAN DO THAT, BUT THEN THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF THE HIGHER RATED PLAYERS 'LOSING' SOME GAMES TO ENABLE THEMSELVES TO PLAY IN THOSE TOURNEYS.I AM CERTAINLY NOT SAYING THEY WOULD, BUT STILL, THE POSSIBLITY IS THERE. SO,, I AM LOOKING INTO PERHAPS, MAYBE TOURNEYS FOR DIFFERENT RATING RANGES. KEEP GIVING ME SUGGESTIONS.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
