Apology to All

I just wanted to apologize to anyone who it has upset when i resign because i am sure i will not win. I did not realize that this bothered anyone until i read about it in the forum today. I did not even know this forum was here until today, and i thought this would be a good way to apologize to everyone. Also, when I am slow, I am sorry. I have a 3 year old and a newborn, and sometimes i have to do something for them and forget that i am playing. Please be assured I will not continue to resign when a big pile is picked up, and will try to pay more attention to the game.

that was a nice gesture. I find it offensive when people resign right away also. But we have never played so I wasn't talking about u but knowing the circumstance it is understood. not always are the games down when a pile is picked up and the person winning the battle deserves their moment of glory. It may not happen that often so watch and applaud.

Thanks for yr comments.

I do not find it offensive or rude at all for someone to resign...that is their right..and fully understandable...if someone needs the glory of not only winning the pack but also to play it out...i think their is a ego problem....i do not get offended at all if someone resigns.....and if i feel that there is no more use and there is no way to come back and win...i resign too...who wants to put themselves through that....just on with the next game..and new luck

No Problem For Me

I've had it both ways...have had my opponent resign after I take the winning pile, and I've also resigned myself when my opponent takes it. I always take time to congratulate them if I do the resigning, so I see no problem in doing so. Time is often the reason...I've sat and let my opponent have the fun of playing it out, but have found some that will milk it for all it's worth, even knowing they've won the game without the extra points they get. I was told when first starting online canasta that doing that is a very rude thing to do, and that a good sport will go out as soon as possible after an obvious win.

Whatever the thinking on this subject I have no problem with my opponent resigning even without a friendly 'congrats!' It's just a game to be enjoyed.

Happy Gaming to all!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
