Ladder Challenges

Hi, I would just like say that I am a tad dismayed at the way people post a canasta challenge...some rare people display courtesy and manners and others are just downright rude...to me you are requesting the challenge and a little courtesy would go a long way...a 'Hi would love to play sometime please' seems a lot nicer than a 'game ty' which is like a demanding....I have played canasta since I was 11 years old with my parents and just love the game...and also the challenge of the ladder is fun...but some peoples rudeness and pushiness to play..takes a lot of the fun away...It is an honour to be challenged..and it would be lovely if people could do this in a more courteous way... I find my time difference with most people makes my meeting the challenge a tad difficult at times...but I do my best..though sometimes with the time difference and 'bad timing' this may take a couple of days..especially having a job and children to look after and meals to cook... I have met some (unfortunatley) few players who are couteous and a pleasure to play and fulfill the challenge with... Please remember when placing a challenge or even replying to a challenge, that we are all people who deserve respect and common courtesy...and niceness goes a long way further for all than rudeness...Thank you... and thank you to those who have been very courteous and wonderful challenges...

I would just like to say that in most cases challenges should not be necessary. I try to play with everyone - those with high rankings and those with low.
I have challenged only very rarely and then only with people who have told me they will not play me for reasons only known unto themselves.
I have people asking me constantly for a game and I find them always very courteous and respectful to me.
I too am a busy lady - with a business and four children to attend to.
I love playing on Game Colony as it is MY time for me.
thanks for your input

Thanks heatherose..but i was not referring to you, people do challenges..and it is these people that i am referring to...sometimes people are not on at the same time...so a challenge is a way to work it so you can play against the player that you want to so that you may progress up the ladder and allows a way to make a suitable time to do it...well that is how i see it...also for the fun of challenge...I also play high everyone ..no matter what rating or rank....and I also love the challenge of progressing up the ladder....it is all fun.....just some people are a tad rude when they challenge and take the fun away.....It is MY time too.....and that is why i ask that maybe some people be a tad more courteous .....
I agree

I agree with both Lucky_Lady and Heather. No, challenges should not be necessary...we all come here to play, and everybody deserves a shot at #1. Sometimes I will deny an invite, but usually I will play anyone. If i don't play you when you invite me, it is because sometimes I will come on just to look for 1 certain player, on my lunch break from work or something, but I will never refuse because of rank or rating. But I also agree that a lot of challenges could be put in nicer, more polite terms. Courtesy and manners aren't gonna kill anyone. Really!!!
the stress of the ladder

I too agree with all of u. The ladder is a lot of fun but it is stressfull to . I enjoy playing canasta with everyone. But there are time when you wish that if someone wants to play you that they would be nice about it instead of saying play me , or game now. I to play everyone no matter the how high or low they are. I know when you get high in the ladder that games are more demanding on you and the stress starts to get to u. So as i always say to my kids' put your feet into there shoes' and then you would know how it feels to get a challenge that makes you feel like it is a demand. When a challenge is put in nice terms it make you feel like you want to play them more. Thank so much for your time in reading this and have a good day......

Wow teddy!!!You hit the nail right on the head. Up until last month, I didn't really play for ladder, cuz I really didn't even know what it was all about. And as soon as I hit #10, people got ruder and ruder about wanting to play me. I get rude messages in main hall or while I am atr a table, be it that i a m polaying or just waiting, saying 'play me' 'game...now' 'me next' 'hurry up', youguys all know what I am talking about. Or the challenges, where people just put 'game' or 'anytime'...its plain rude. Almost makes me not want to play Ladder anymore...its more fun without the stress

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
