New rule should be reviewed.

Apparently there is a new rule that allows a player to enter a tournament up to 4 minutes late if there are only 3 or less players in it. That rule rewards late entries and allows people to size up there opposition and decide to get in or not. It is a terrible rule and should be abolished faster than it was created.
I will not wait for 4 minutes to see if i then am asked if we want to play winner take all. I just refused waiting and it cancelled the canasta tourney that was scheduled moments ago. If a player can't be on time to register then don't reward them and let them in later.

If fact, I believe less than four player tournaments should be cancelled outright so u need to win at least two matchs to win any tournament but that is another story.

It is getting annoying that TD's chat after the start time welcoming everyone and people still enter after the scheduled start time. Do the draw at start time and then chat if u must. As long as they register on time and the draw is done there are no rewards for being late.

Also, Please ask TDs to start the MIA as soon as the tournament start time and not when they call out the match 2 or 3 minutes later. If someone is missing at the start --his/her MIA should have started on the hour no matter when the game is called. They still have ten minutes to get in.

For example. Calling one match at 101 and another match at 103 should mean all players MIA must count their ten minutes at 10. Not 101 or 103. totally unfair any other way.

BE KIND TO TD WEEK

It goes without saying that if it weren't for the extreme dedication of all of our TD's, there would be NO tournaments & if that were the case, there would be little opportunity for the best-of-the-best to compete. A tip of the (cowboy) hat to one of THE most hard-working, devoted TD's: Gr8!!!!!

Reward

When u reward players for being late then that is not positive and it can be used unfairly whether u see that or not. u r a fun person GR and i like playing in yr tournaments and have supported u in crib and canasta and everything I play but I will not support rewarding late players or 3 player tournaments unless i have nothing better to do. Three player tournaments are not tournaments in my opinion.

Tournaments

Hello all,

I am fairly new to the Tournament scene and this is my first posting in the forum.

First I would like to say that I really appreciate the sacrifices the TD's have to make to allow our gaming experience to be as FUN as possible. Way to go TD's and thanks.

As far as the rule of waiting 4 minutes to start a tournament, I don't mind it at all. Four player tourny's are alot more enjoyable and fair for everyone. If we have to wait 4 min to start just so we can get a fourth player, I think that is just fine. I can see Phantoms point about people taking advantage of picking and choosing what tourny's to enter based on the people already signed up. A solution might be not to post the names of the people registered in the tourny's, just the number of players?? Just trying to think of a way to eliminate Phantoms concerns.

All in all, I don't think 4 min is much time to have to wait. I'd rather wait 4 min to get a fourth then to play with only 3. (I've never played in a 3 player tourny though)

Thanks again to all the TD's - My wife and I both really enjoy this newly discovered (to us) tournament canasta.

Thanks everyone,
SV

Something to consider...

I guess I don't feel like we are rewarding anyone by waiting four minutes to play a tournament. I know I have signed up just seconds before the deadline, not because I was waiting to see who signed up, but because I was finishing another game, feeding my baby, answering the door, or trying to get my dogs in from the rain. I would rather wait four minutes to see if someone else signed up, then to not play at all.

I think it was unfair for Phantom to leave the tournament, simply because she didn't want to wait the four minutes. What about the other two players who were waiting to play? They signed up in time and had the tournament cancelled on them because Phantom refused to wait the four minutes. Phantom didn't want to reward late players, but at the same time, punished the ones who were there.

Anyone who is refusing to allow late entries should have had to sign up the full five minutes in advance - as requested - and be in the room waiting for those five minutes.

I like Sven's idea of not posting the names of the players signed up until the tournaments start...I would also suggest a round-robin style of tournament for three players.

Thanks

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
