Hi Arrow, you're rated 1931 and I'm at 1923. How about a match? What's a good day & time for you?

Thanks,

Valerie (Wiske)

arrowe has had that rating for over 1 year.he comes in once in a while but never plays a game he just comes in and out.the rating must mean a lot to him because he never plays a game to risk it.so what can i say he has played less than 300 games and i guess thats it.good luck pegfast getting a game with him.if you do let everyone know you might be able to sell tickets as i dont know anyone who has ever seen him play a game

play over 8000 games as I have and many others and see what your rating will be. We have had this conversation before.

I agree with you Greg; these ratings don't mean much if the person gets a high rating and then never plays anyone. My undertanding is they are never required to maintain any kind of rate of play or accept challenges. I have heard that some highly rated players can manipulate the ratings, by playing themselves (another player name-on a second computer), but I can't say for sure that this is the case. It would be informative to find out if and how GC monitors the rated players to maintain integrity of the rating system. In the meantime I guess the lesson is don't take the high ratings too seriously-if you're here primarily for the high rating, you might not get too many games. just my opinion. Pete

I would love to see this time greatly reduced. I think even 1 minute is too long, if you can't make up your mind in 30 sec, then maybe you shouldn't be playing crib.

I will stick my neck out and say that I think it is virtually impossible to get such a high rating without collusion or some other underhand goings on.How you can do this without playing ladder games/players is inconceivable.
At the other end of the scale if I play a low rated player such as 1006 like I just have I only gain 3 points and stand to lose 33.I won two games and gained 6 points.I would think that an 1800 plus player would only receive a similar low increase against say a 1400 player. This means he would have to win an awful lot og games without losing and I say again 'This is just not on'My advice therefore is to treat such high 'ratings' in the same way as you treat flying pigs.Unbelievable.
On the subject of playing much lower rated players ,if we avoid playing them how on earth are they to learn and gain experience.

Some players only have steam computers therefore 30 secs would not be enough.
When I was at school we had 30 mins playtime !!!WILKIEBOBS

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
