5 minute time play

Dear Gooders and Ppeline and others,

The 5 minute time play can be adjusted, when setting your table, down to one minute, if you prefer that. I agree with you, in the fact, slow play is aggravating. Although, some people don't have the background of good math skills and do need a little more time, or are really trying to make the better decision of what to do, (that's my dilemma, often). There are faster players and there are slower players.

The 5 minute time play is not for making tea or changing the laundry. It's not for taking 5 minutes per move either. So if you find players that are abusing the 5 minute time play, it's gg to them and the last time for each of you to learn a good lesson.

my dearest scubs i quite agree with you and in every thing you say. but i was only asking for the time to move in tournys to be reduced to 1min as some tournys are taking to long, and sometimes it gets quite annoying when you placed your 2 cards in crib and then you have to wait up to 5 mins for opponentto play there 2 cards and i do know that some people are slower than others,(but hey not that slow)

I agree with gooders; 5 min is a very long time to play a card or discard to the crib, wayyyy too long, even if you assume the person's math skills are weak. Yes you can set your time to as low as 1 minute, which is what I always do. The problem comes in when you go to another player's table and find out the setting is 5 min. Of course you could always say to that player, if you want to play come to my table or pls change your 5 min setting. The 5 minute option is a detriment to almost every player here; it should be abolished; there is plenty of disconnect protection in place so I don't think that's an excuse. Yes some players play faster than others, but taking 5 min to make a play is ridiculous. just my opinion, Pete

Hey Gooders...

Good observation......If you and others are finding that some players are abusing the 5 min move per play in tourneys...please notify the TD directing the tourney. One time, MIGHT, be excusable, but 2 or more, please say something, as this holds up the tourney for everyone. The TD has the opportunity to find out what is going on as opposed to the opponent finding out. This can be discussed with the abuser (if that's the correct word).
There are players who intentionally disconnect also, but that action has been decreasing, thank goodness. The fact is that one player is going to win and one is going to lose.

We are all here to have fun. So, to the abusers of the 5 min time rule, just play, as to taking too long, will only cause more headaches for a lot of people. And perhaps, lose some good friends..

5 Minutes per Move - Too Long for Tourney

Personally,

I would like to see the move time reduced to 1 minute, though I think 2 minutes are acceptable. Anything longer leads to aggravation and/or cheating as they may be using discard tables during play.

Just my not-so-humble opinion.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
