Actually there is only a trick available for the person who sets the board unless u know it. Some people set the board purposely like that so that when the game still has potential but the board setter is highly favored but not guaranteed they double. If the person playing is normally accustomed to playing higher pt matchs and looks the board over realizing that they are too far behind they might drop forgetting it is a 1 pt match and of course losing right away eliminating any chance of a win. I almost did this myself once and had to check the main room to see how many pts we were playing and almost lost the match. accepting just meant we continue the game and whatever slim chance sitll exists.
Hope this makes sense.

I've often wondered myself why some set that 1 pt without the ND. Makes sense to me. I'll know to watch now.

I asked someone why they did this once, and they replied that it was because you got more points for a win if you won 2-0 etc even in a 1pt game. So I set them straight and left it as that, so maybe the other people that do this think in the same way.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
