Attention to all:
Per pearle6 (TD) suggestion, we have created an account called KATRINA_RELIEF. GC has deposited $100 in the account. We will use this account to collect donations for Katrina relief fund. All money accumulated in this account will be send to Red Cross in October, 2005. We will also announce a special benefit tourney with all proceeeds to go to KATRINA_RELIEF. Stay tuned...
Great Idea!

We have all watched with horror the details of the affects of Katrina. Those of us not affected have been fortunate. So, why we sit and play and enjoy our time and friends, let's not forget those that have lost everything. Please attend these special tourneys and contribute anything you can. Even 1 little tix will help. Thanks!
In case you are wondering ....

how to make a donation, all you need to do is CONTACT US and tell them you would like to donate however many tix you want to the KATRINA_RELIEF account. They will take care of the rest -- simple as that!
I plan to hold some special KATRINA_RELIEF tourneys and any tix I receive from those tourneys will go straight to the special account -- so I hope you'll all sign-up to play -- the more who play, the more I earn and the more that will go into helping all the people who have been left homeless and without any food, water or clothing from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Thanking you all in advance for your support! Pearle

playing in these special benefit tourney will help
ask contact us to trans. some tix over to this relief acct.
STOP whining. turn up the thermostat 3 degrees. you don't have to be in perfect comfort all the time. this saves lots of fuel in the long run.
don't run down your gas tank below half. try to carpool and make a list of things you need to do when you are out.. quit running errands separately.
if you have a business and need employees try to hire one of these displaced citizens.. they WANT to work. we can help and some of us will help.......are you willing too?

If you are going to contribute to KATRINA_RELIEF outside of a tourney, you can do so via Contact Us, after logging in as yourself and requesting the specific amount to be transferred to KATRINA_RELIEF account.
1. Whether it is 1 Ticket or 100 Tickets, your donation will be private & every $ will help.
2. There is NO FEE for transferring tickets from one account to another.
3. Contributions can be made for this special account for the entire month of September.
4. Every $ counts. One dollar will diaper a baby or buy milk for a whole day
Thanks to all for any help you can give both personal contributions and in promotion.
Thanks GC

Get ready the KATRINA_RELIEF tourneys are coming to your neighborhood. Any winners are not required to donate any and/or all of their winnings. I am doing the tourneys as my part of the donation. During the month of September any tourneys I host and money I earn from hosting will go directly to the Katrina account. If you should like to donate some of your winnings, you are more than welcome to do so -- please see Webbies post on how you can do that. All I ask is that as many of you will sign up for these tourneys because the more who sign up the more I am able to donate. And last but not least, please be patient with me as I'm not used to doing tourneys in Backgammon so I ask for your patience. Thanks and I look forward to seeing a lot of you soon. Pearle

Play backgammon tournaments online
At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
