I have a request to all my crib crew, all tourney players new and old, and in all of our GC games.....I hope you don't mind......I, like all of you, would like to see smooth play and happy players in all of our tourneys, and I need your help to do so.
When you sign up for a tournament you are committing to not just one round, but as many rounds as it takes to win (or lose) that particular tourney. If you are stuck waiting in between rounds, for other tables to finish up, or for MIA players, we really really need you to stick close by......do what you need to do, but please check in frequently so that other players don't end up waiting on you to show back up for your turn. I had a tournament this evening where almost EVERY time I called a pair to play ONE was not paying attention and MIA - this tournament took an hour and 15 minutes to play only 8 players.......all the while, other players were getting frustrated and of course some tend to blame the TD for slow play and what-not. Of course, these things aren't our fault, but we DO have to take the brunt of it, unfortunately, from impatient players who don't like to wait around. If you play in tourneys often, you know that sometimes (especially in double elim) there IS some down time in between games and very RARELY do things work out where everyone plays smoothly all the way through - between the two brackets there ARE some wait times. But let's please please pay attention - it is frustrating for other players first of all, particularly those players that may have already had to WAIT on rounds to finish, etc.....and then to have to wait on a player that appears to BE PRESENT .... And, yes, it is frustrating to us TDs too - especially when we have players who have tendencies to pitch fits or show their irritation with the TDs rather than at the players who they're frustrated with....
Please be considerate to all your fellow cribbers When you sign up for a tourney, please commit to be there for that tournament. I know as well as anyone else that it is hard to sit still, so you may have other open windows, etc. - but I think it would be super if you could please keep track of things in the tournament FIRST - have it be your priority, as there are multiple players counting on you to be there! And if you have to step away, just let the TD know - that way we can be aware that you're coming back and not having connection troubles, etc. You will still be on the MIA clock if you don't respond, but it will be less frustrating for everyone if we know you're folding clothes for 2 minutes or running to the restroom....
Thanks so much, and I look forward to seeing you all at tourney time!!!!!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
