Ladder problem...

Next year I will have more time on my hands to play chess. I know I will eventually make the Ladder Top 20. But here is the problem: My network delay is very slower than all the other players. Sometimes it's even 1.8seconds! So, if I'm gonna challenge one of the Top20 players, then they can choose what type of game to be played. Most of them play 1min games. How can I get myself into the Top20 without having to play 1min games?

And he plays 4 minute games which is only 2 minutes faster than yourself. Its easy enough, you just need to play people near the top of the ladder and win.. Ok not easy if they play1 minute games like me! But there are enough players willing to play longer
Beat the Top Players and do it often

Thanks for the mention Mr Aleman
Yes, I play 4min games, and managed to reach the top 100 after 22 games; top 50 after 45 games; and top 20 after 74 games. It can be done...keep winning!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
