When You are rated 7 and play an opponent that is rated 283---Why does your ladder go up to rating of 8 if you win Just curious---also I played in Main tourney room but I have problems connecting to opponents and that is the reason I dont play--must be my computer or settings??? Tks frank m

When you play a ladder game with a player ranked much lower than you, your rank remains the same no matter win or loss. If your opponent wins, then his rank goes up, if he loses his rank stays the same. Your upward movement on the ladder had to do with something else (probably another player surpassing you on the ladder)

Is it feasible that someone else was playing a ladder game at a similar time, and the lower ranking player won and overtook your ladder rating ? eg ladder 8 played ladder 4 and won. This would result in your rank lowering I think.
Thankyou

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
