You should consider Sunday night or any other night other than Friday. Friday was by request Posted by MAB (moderator) Sep 6 2006 11:49PM PDA requested Friday nights. Friday nights :( Posted by tantechs1 Sep 7 2006 2:43PM I agree, friday nights are not a good night. How about having them on several different nights. They don't last that long. Are they gonna be double elimination??? P,D.A (Pay Drastic Admission) Posted by blindjoe (VIP) Sep 7 2006 7:29PM I think its awesome to have an organization srictly for dominoes but can we all participate! There are many players who love the game but cant afford the outrageouse $50 fine to pay.Try lowering the admission so we can all claim PDA. pda Posted by tombobedsole (VIP) Sep 7 2006 11:35PM i think blindjoe says it all CAN Posted by ac_dc_69 Sep 8 2006 6:23PM CAN THE OVERALL WINNER,GIVE THE 1 Year Membership in the PDA and also Registration Fee for the first PDA tournament to be held Feb. '07. TO SOMEONE WHO CAN GO TO THE TOURNEYS ????????????? Friday nights Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 9 2006 10:28AM I appreciate your interest in playing in the PDA online tournaments. A lot of thought went into deciding what night to hold these tournaments. Friday night was choosen because it is the end of the work week for most people and since the tournament might be early on the west coast it is late on the east coast so being off the next day, again for most people, weighed heavily. That is why Sunday night was not choosen. Another issue with Friday night was people go out. That was taken into consideration and determined that Saturday nights people go out as well and maybe others spend with their family. And especially for this 10 tournament season we run through football season which is heavy on Saturdays and Sundays. So again I appreciate your wanting to participate in the PDA online tournaments and hopefully will find a way to do so on Friday night. I just wanted to let you know a lot of thought did go into picking a night. It wasn't just random. Thanks again for your interest. $50 ticket fee Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 9 2006 10:44AM Thank you for your interest in playing in the PDA online tournaments. In our land based tournaments that we had throughout this year the entry fee was $300 or $200 depending if you were a member of the Professional Domino Association or not. The total prize money given away in each tournament was $30,000. We decided to create an online tournament season (actually we are holding two different seasons each year) and one of the decisions to be made was what will the entry fee be. The entry fees of our land based tournaments was used as a barometer. We understand that the $50 ticket fee is high compared to other tournaments held on gamecolony, but that was kind of the point. We wanted to be different, stand out, and maybe generate some buzz. There are plenty of 1,2,3,5,10, and even 20 ticket tournaments on gamecolony all the time. If we did the same what would make us, the PDA, stand out? Also, keep in mind that with a higher entry fee means higher pay outs. Our first place winners for the most part earned over $300 each win with second place taking in high $100's and most of the time we payed third place usually over $50. And that was just with 10-16 players playing each tournament. When we get a full house (32) I think the pay out for first is over $700. Not bad for a Friday night doing something most of us love, playing dominoes. :) One other point, the PDA is giving away prizes for the overall winner of the 10 tournament online season (standings can be found at www.prodominoassociation.com) worth about $600. Thanks again for your interest. The PDA really appreciates it and hopes to see you playing in our tournaments whether online or land based. CAN Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 9 2006 10:47AM Thanks ac_dc for your question. I will get back to you soon with an answer. Was this a general question or do you plan on playing online and won't be able to make it to our land based tournaments? Do you have someone interested in playing in the land based tournaments that can not play in the online tournaments? Thanks for you interest. Posted by tantechs1 (VIP) Sep 9 2006 11:51PM Are the tourneys single or dbl elimination??? 150, 200, or 250??? dblnine Posted by MAB (moderator) Sep 10 2006 9:26AM The next PDA tournaments are now on the calendar and sign up is open. Hope to see you there All at 10.00 PM - Double Elimination 150 pts. $50.00 entry. EVERYONE IS WELCOME. September 15th and 22nd October 6th and 13th November 3rd and 17th December 8th and 15th January 12th and 26th Posted by tantechs1 (VIP) Sep 10 2006 12:27PM why not make some of the tourneys to 250???? dbl nine Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 10 2006 3:33PM They are set at 150 pts to be consistent with how the PDA plays their land based tournaments. Thanks for you interest. Hope to see you Friday night. Sunday Posted by 0-5 (VIP) Sep 10 2006 7:51PM Sunday would be better for myself and 3 or 4 others who would like to make the extra money PDA Friday Night tournaments Posted by SoWanted (VIP) Sep 17 2006 8:47AM I understand about much thought going into the days of the week for the PDA tournaments but did you consider a survey. Having 8 or so players play in my opinion is not a successful tournament when there are 1,000's of player here. Perhaps you need to reconsider and let the player make the decision as to what night the tournaments should be. The football thing is not an issue. Most players can watch a game while playing and a majority of the player will be eliminated within a few minutes which means they will not miss much footall anyway. You should consider changing the day even now. I doubt anyone has made vacations or meeting plans around the selected dates. I STILL THINK SUNDAY NIGHT IS THE BEST NIGHT. SUNDAY EVENINGS Posted by TEXAS_NANCY (VIP) Sep 17 2006 3:16PM I agree with Travis, Sunday evening is the best time for the PDA tourney's. Take a VOTE....... Friday Night PDA Online Tournament Players Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 18 2006 10:17AM There have been serval suggestions for moving the tournament to Sunday night. This is being taking under consideration to change this Friday's tournament to Sunday night. I would first like to leave this open for any of our Friday players to respond if they have a problem with the change. I would hate to change and then have everyone who has been loyal and play every Friday not able to make it on Sunday for what would that really accomplish. Thanks. Stay tuned for possible schedule change. Sunday night Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Sep 19 2006 12:44PM This weeks PDA online tournament scheduled for Friday, September 22 will be changed to Sunday, September 24. There have been a lot of requests for Sunday night. We want the PDA online tournaments to be as successful as possible so we are going to try it out. Hope to see everyone playing Sunday night. Posted by tantechs1 (VIP) Sep 22 2006 12:49AM Why not have some of the tournaments during the middle of the week??? Ticket Fee Change Posted by play_dominoes (VIP) Oct 10 2006 1:15PM In another attempt to attract as many players as possible the Ticket Fee for the PDA Online Tournaments has been reduced to $20. We tried a move to Sunday which did nothing to attract more players. Instead we ended up losing 3 or 4 of our regular players on Friday night. I know there are a lot of players who showed interest in playing in the PDA Online Tournaments who currently do not. Hopefully this will be enough to get them to play. Hope to see everyone playing Friday night. Thanks. |
